Farming experience. A wider perspective.
In The Paddock explores how agriculture works, how it is changing and what those changes mean for farmers. It began as a podcast about production and the business of farming. Today its scope reaches across video, audio and supporting written resources.
One story, the format that suits it
YouTube: deeper dives into global forces, policy, economics and emerging agricultural technology.
Podcast: longer conversations and audio features, complemented by shorter technical and agronomic discussions.
Website: a home for episode notes, supporting information, the archive and getting in touch.
Newsletter: a possible future digest bringing the most useful material together. It has not launched yet.
Meet Martin Murray

I’m a farmer and agronomist based in northern New South Wales. I grew up on my parents’ rice and sheep farm near Carrathool, worked on farms around Moree and a cattle station in the Northern Territory, then studied at the University of New England before working in agronomy.
That background shapes the questions I ask: does an idea work, what does it cost, what are the trade-offs, and how strong is the evidence?
Our editorial approach
We aim to distinguish evidence, personal experience and opinion, acknowledge uncertainty and correct mistakes. Paid partnerships will be identified and do not purchase a favourable conclusion.
